OK SO SINCE I BRIEFLY MENTIONED MY OWN PERSONAL SHIP OF JOHNNY & CARL. i'm gonna ramble about their ship dynamic bc they make me so ill in the brain /pos

in terms of THIS blog though, i try to leave Carl's character more vague and open-ended, since i'm not rp'ing him anyway (i would, but honestly i don't have much confidence in writing smart nerdy characters like him rip), and also bc i wanna leave enough room for Johnny's character here to be able to establish connections with other people's muses for rp. so not all of this may actually apply to this blog! but i just wanted to ramble about it anyway bc it's fun lol — and also maybe it could give people some inspo for how THEIR muse's dynamics could play out with Johnny, too! so there's that!!

SO. i headcanon Carl to be a trans man, which plays a big role in his dynamic with Johnny. in a way, Carl sort of looks up to Johnny as a symbol of what it really MEANS to be a man. it's a big reason as to why he tolerates Johnny's teasing so much — because that's just what men do, right? and honestly, it's not entirely wrong, as it's largely because Johnny DOES view Carl as a man that he has no problem with teasing him, horseplaying and ribbing each other all the time. it's mostly just a matter of how far Johnny takes it, as he doesn't always consider when he's crossing the line. for instance, he's so much bigger and stronger than Carl, so when they play around, Johnny might not always take that factor into account and accidentally shove Carl across the room or something. or he might make a joke or two that totally crosses the line and offends him. and the excuses that Carl typically makes for his friend are things like, "Well, he didn't mean to. He was just playing around. Maybe I just need to be less sensitive!"

but being friends with Johnny does have its upsides, too. although the friendship may not be perfect, they both still look out for each other. Johnny is extremely protective of Carl, and he's pretty much the ONLY one who gets to tease him. that's HIS nerd. he especially likes to give Carl all kinds of tips and pointers on how to be "more of a man," particularly when it comes to relationships. he's always trying to teach Carl what to do with a hypothetical girlfriend. "Remember, you always wanna make the first move. Don't just wait around hopin' for somethin' to happen! Open the door for 'em when you go anywhere. The ladies love a good, strong man who can take charge." and so on. of course, nevermind the fact that Johnny hardly even follows his OWN advice half the time...

this is where their friendship can be a little... questionable. essentially, Johnny projects his own ideal version of a man onto Carl. although neither of them initially realize it, Johnny is basically just listing off qualities that HE finds attractive in a man — and this has its pros and cons! on one hand, there's definitely something to be said about Carl needing to be true to himself, and not listening to every little thing that Johnny tells him, so there's certainly that aspect to unpack.

but on the other hand, Carl does genuinely want to know how to present himself in a more gender-affirming way, and as someone who was raised and socialized in a feminine light, he actually COULD use some of the pointers that Johnny gives him. so it's not all bad, so long as Carl learns to treat Johnny's tips with a bit of skepticism and still allows room to express himself naturally.

and this dynamic not only has its benefits for Carl, but for Johnny too! when Johnny later realizes that he's gay and attracted to Carl, that's obviously a very big shock for him. he might not know the first thing about dating men instead of women! but Carl has already spent so long listening to everything that Johnny has taught him about men so far, so when they start dating, Carl gets to put all of those new skills to good use in the relationship — and since those skills were Johnny's own ideals projected onto him, that really amplifies Johnny's attraction to him even more. it's nice to see Carl be more confident in himself and "take charge." this allows Johnny to figure out exactly what his own preferences are in a relationship, what he likes and doesn't like, and what his standards are.

and, in a way, it allows Johnny to relax and not feel the pressure to put on such an over-the-top masculine performance himself — as he's someone very much affected by toxic masculinity. it's pretty much the direct opposite of Carl's situation. whereas Carl actually benefits from learning more about masculinity and how to utilize it, Johnny instead benefits from UN-learning that thought process for himself, and allowing himself to express himself without the need to "act like a man" all the time.

so, by allowing Carl to "take charge" more often in the relationship, Johnny gets to learn how to be more open and vulnerable, and is provided with a sense of long-term stability — and in turn, Carl learns more how to stand up for himself, gains more confidence in himself, and grows to feel more comfortable in his body. although it may take years for them to fully reach that point, it's a mutually beneficial relationship. they balance each other out, with their respective identities as MEN playing a big role in their dynamic as a couple!

//This may or may not surprise you (probably the latter), but-- "it" being to being here on tumblr. I've gone from 'wow i want to write here' to 'i want to want to write here', with no real inspo or like, drive? To do so. And that's no one's fault!!! Like yeah, sure, insecurity and stuff can't help, nor disparate people independently going AFK/low activity/etc, but even outside of insecurity angsting I don't... have any plans or desires or anything for what to even do here?

experience / how many years :  oh man, i've been writing since the dawn of time. i used to write privately with friends back in the day through e-mail, polyvore, MYSPACE! literally anywhere and everywhere. i didn't find tumblr rp until 2013.

best experience : i have to say wholeheartedly some of my best memories come from the 2013-2014 years and that's largely thanks to @mutatedangels! the summer was full of nights where i'd stay up writing and plotting until the sun rose the next day. it was so fun being giddy over ships and having a blast writing whatever we wanted.

rp pet peeves : refusing to write with certain faces or being too rigid with rules in general. i also never really like when someone chases a face and has no interest in what the actual character is like. i totally get preferences, but sometimes it just feels a little crazy to be so strict with certain rules that really don't matter at the end of the day. it's tumblr rp, we're all here for fun!

fluff, angst, or smut : i'm a sucker for fluff & angst. i love anything that brings on strong emotions! i'm not against smut, and in fact really love the idea of it when i have a great ship - i just SUCK at it. and i get bored writing it pretty quickly. but again, not against it!

plots or memes : oh plots for sure. most of the time i don't really need a big plot, i just like a connection to build off of. almost all my muses have a set bio, stats, etc so sometimes i can't make them work for a specific meme bc it doesn't make sense for them. there's only a few characters of mine that i'm willing to change for the sake of a meme or plot.

So this is my first post here, name's mimi and i've just been casually writting stories for a very long time. Used to rp all the time yet havent in a few years. Recently my muse in dystopian has risen again and im very excited to publish what ive got. Won't promise it's any good lol havent been using tumblr in a very long time either and everything is so different so pls bare w me, english is not my first nor second lenguage so kidness its thanked. I'm just messing around with it, trying to enjoy myself and hopefully you like, it if not.. well, i'd like it. Wasn't even gonna post this whole thing into the tags but i figured it's always helpful to build up of each others energy (if anyone interacts w it, again no pressure this is mostly for me). My first story will be divergent au kinda sorta aka before the events of the movie, set in dauntless and w eric bc we love a bad boy. Also want to focus on building the characters as we got them presented in the book and the society status but once again, dont make no promises.

Here are some of my thoughts during my first writting session (im halfway through)

• i think my biggest mission in this story other than finishing it is to not kill y/n at the end to explain eric's extreme assholness&cold heart bc lol isn't what we all think will happen? i mean wouldnt it be a dystopian story if the main/fav character didnt get killed off riGHT VERONICA but also predictable idk we'll see

• also always wanted to write stories of four and eric initative times and fights HC but i gotta warm up to the characters tbh and fight scenes bc there's a lot and i need to explore the world first, make it my own in a way even though i own nothing bc im not veronica roth but you get what im saying

• refer to previous point, am i fully knowloadged of the world? The factions? The OG story? No, so i'm sure i'll ramble through and adapt it to my own mind, hope thats not off putting. I'll try my best but you know how things turn out sometimes.

• i do have a small bullet point and inspo fcs for the characters presented in the story & i want to make like a post for them but also too much work and im still getting to know them myself so im sure they will grow a lot but probs will post them just so we are @ same page w them??

• also finish writting chapt 1 would be a nice i guess lol

best time to write: i feel like i have the most motivation to write during the day but obviously that varies. during the past few weeks, i've been writing at work during slow times and i feel like that's been doing me good lol

✿ BEST EXPERIENCE: I always talk about the Persona stuff, let’s do something different. I was part of a small group in the FE rpc that helped organize some comm-wide events including volleyball tournaments, masquerade balls, muse auctions, zombie invasions, hedge mazes. It was always a good time.

✿ RP PET PEEVES/DEALBREAKERS:  I’ve been waiting for the pet peeve word to come up, because it’s not a deal breaker or something I super judge, but just a little peeve? yes: too many memes that put the burden of writing/creativity on the sender (make up your own question, send a nightmare, send a reaction to x, etc) like ‘send a kiss’ things are fine because ship fuel usually has extra reserves, poking for headcanons/meta/ships sometimes is fine bc you just want to open it up to hear what people think. but for the most part you’re the one posting the meme, you’re the one with the drive, you’re the one asking for interaction. Make it easy. Like, I want to interact and indulge, but If I have to do more than send a symbol or copy/paste a phrase when I’m already working on other drafts or tired and lurking, that just seems unfair. Especially if there’s a bunch like that in a row or every day.

Dealbreakers are too much vagueblogging, constant negativity that vastly overtakes regular interactions, not respecting my headcanons/boundaries.

✿ FLUFF, ANGST OR SMUT:  Blood, tears, and orgasms fuel my soul. But I’m up for anything that helps the muses develop, explores some depth or expression of character. If you’re willing to do some development first, then fluff in between can be fun too. (Also fluffy/soft/slice of life topics can still have development, in which case I wouldn’t consider them “fluff” threads.)

✿ PLOTS OR MEMES:    both. usually the best comes from a meme that kicks off some plotting. I don’t always have the brainspace for big plots these days, but some context and tentative direction for the thread is always good.

✿ LONG OR SHORT REPLIES:  I’ve done both. One-liners are rare and usually silly bouncing with muses already developed together. I can’t do full rps that way. I can get up to 1000-2000 words in replies, but lately just been loving the ~300-500 word medium length.

✿ BEST TIME TO WRITE: When I have the house to myself, which is usually only a few days a week and about to get less once I start work again lmao. In an ideal world, I would wake up, watch/listen/read some stuff/ catch up on the dash for inspo then churn some stuff out. Maybe take a break then repeat the process. Rare are the days responsibilities don’t break that up somehow. Such is life. I usually have more writing energy when other people are around on the dash or discord. Keeps the juices flowing and feels less like screaming into the void. Gotta agree with Shrimpy that sometimes the opposite extreme of everyone being quiet the whole time can help focus, though (if I have enough mojo to start in the first place). 

✿ ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S): I think we all fit our perceptions, values, pieces of ourselves in our muses somehow. That said, I am not very much like qrow except for some of those shared values (dislike of mainstream and propriety, caring about people, depth of emotion/sentimentality, some empathy) and maybe some trauma responses lmao. I’m not a 40 year old unlucky alcoholic fighter uncle man who travels the world and works with secret clubs. Although, we Qrow muns seem to agree some extra Misfortune slips into our lives since taking on this muse. rp  pet  peeves / deal  breakers :  not reading someone's rules, callout culture is something i've seen ruin people when it's not for something truly terrible, cliques, folks using that super small dwarf font just bc my eyesight is awful, folks not wanting to write with female characters / poc / oc's, folks not wanting to write with people who for whatever the reason may be don't have pretty aesthetics, and also just a general lack of communication when it comes to issues people may have. rp is something that requires input from both sides, writing or not & i think it's very important to communicate any issue you may have with somebody, more specifically if you've been interacting for some time rather than just call it quits so the other person can know what it is they've done wrong.

muse  preferences  fluff,  angst,  or  smut :  i love all of these things though i will say i typically lean towards angst bc i love exploring all of the intricacies of those situations. fluff is always nice & easy & smut never fails to wake up muse tho

plots  or  memes :  plotting certainly helps keep things on track & it can be easier sometimes to take inspo from it. memes are great to start off interactions or maybe start a new thread but sometimes it risks getting repetitive if you get too many of the same.

long  or  short  replies : it super depends on the day & my mood but over all i think i prefer lengthier ones as they can really showcase everyone's talent & it gives you more of a peek into a character's head

best  time  to  write :  whenever i can tbh but i'd say late morning or sometime in the evening
